Case work

As a British Council Schools Ambassador, Hazel recently worked with MFL teachers from Staffordshire and the Limousin region of France to establish new partnerships and develop joint curriculum-based projects and reciprocal student visits under the British Council Charles de Gaulle/Lefevre programme.

Hazel supported the partner schools in their bids for generous funding, which will support the forthcoming exchange visits.

This involved hosting a residential seminar for the UK and French teachers in Staffordshire, enabling partner teachers to learn about the Charles de Gaulle/Lefevre programme, plan their joint project activities and exchange visits, and complete the grant application form.

As a linguist and former teacher of German and French, Hazel sees the benefits of learning about other cultures alongside foreign languages by engaging in international school partnerships and projects.

Having taught secondary MFL for 13 years, Hazel was Staffordshire LA’s Adviser for International Links from 2003 to 2014.

Hazel worked closely with area link partners in France, Germany and China to facilitate collaborative projects and exchange visits for students, teachers and headteachers. She has supported many schools in establishing international school links, developing joint activities and accessing EU Comenius and Erasmus+ funding to support international professional development and joint curriculum-based projects.

Hazel has extensive knowledge of the current EU Erasmus+ programme of funding for schools. She is a British Council Schools Ambassador and eTwinning Ambassador, and can support schools in their engagement with the full range of British Council international opportunities, including EU eTwinning, the International School Award, Connecting Classrooms, and the Anglo-French Charles de Gaulle/Lefevre programme..
